Meeting Review
The 2007 Annual Meeting of the Loss Prevention Conference, Linking Perspectives: Prevention’s Common Ground led attendees on an exploration of how claims professionals can find common ground in today’s claims issues. The annual meeting was held October 14-17 at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The educational sessions helped attendees develop strategies and techniques for preventing the claims issues which affect them most. All new this year were sessions on 3rd party logistics operations, carrier claims prevention, and OS&D prevention at key touch points in the transportation pipeline.
The annual meeting also included interactive small group discussions and Q&A sessions on specific techniques for identifying workable prevention solutions and implementing an effective preventative program. The annual meeting featured two sessions specifically focused on understanding claims rules, court cases and recent legal decisions: the Claims Liability Workshop led by George Wright, George W. Wright and Associates and the Claims Legal Update presented by Rob Mosley, Leatherwood Walker Todd and Mann. Other sessions included an analysis of the bill of lading sections, terms and conditions and how to mitigate claims through alternative dispute resolution.
All attendees were eligible for 21 Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Council (CCPAC) credits for attending the LPC 2007 Annual Meeting. Individuals attending the special ½ day NMFTA Classification seminar Wednesday afternoon led by Don Newell were eligible for an additional 3 CCPAC credits.
